Academy homework

For the next two weeks all registered PRO Academy players will have a piece of homework to complete each day as part of their training in the program. With the Academy theme being 'Starting the Point' there is a great emphasis on the serve and return and in terms of the serve it all starts with a good ball toss. Players must complete a set of 50 practice ball tosses each night for the next two weeks with a target and ball.

In this episode of TRY this 11 year old Stacy Ossipov demonstrates how one simple drill can improve the quality of your 2 hand backhand. This three step process has players using their non-dominant hand to help carry the weight of the shot through the ball more. Even if you aren't at all ambidextrous this will be a helpful tip for you and your 2 hand backhand.

Featuring Genevieve Quenville this quick tip forces players to get closer to the ball when volleying, which in turn improves footwork and the athletic stance. If you have a tendency to reach for volleys, this is a sure fire way to fix that habit.

This film was chosen as part of the 2011 Barrie Film Festival. It was shot in a single day in April of 2011. Its origins came from my father calling me up and telling me the cottage had been sold. I had a few weeks to go make sure none of my stuff was there.

It was a regular Sunday with nothing to do. You know how that is when you are 12 years old, or especially when you are 6. After being placed in charge of my 6 year old neice Brookelyn and my 12 year old newphew Nick for the day I decided to make an adventure out of an everyday experience.
